LCI personnel have extensive experience conducting large, logistically complex, multi-disciplinary studies for critical facilities such as nuclear power plants, dams, ports, bridges, pipelines and LNG terminals.&lt;br&gt;

Skills &amp;amp; Experience Required:&lt;br&gt;
• Degree in GIS or Earth Science-related field with coursework in both disciplines (Masters degree is a plus)&lt;br&gt;
• ArcGIS 9.3 or newer (intermediate/advanced)&lt;br&gt;
• Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro (intermediate/advanced)&lt;br&gt;
• MS Office Professional (intermediate/advanced)&lt;br&gt;
• Knowledge of additional ESRI or non-ESRI GIS products is a plus&lt;br&gt;
• Knowledge of website design and update is a plus&lt;br&gt;
• Knowledge of GPS data collection and processing is a plus&lt;br&gt;
• Knowledge and processing of 3D datasets is a plus&lt;br&gt;
• Knowledge of IT related to hardware and software is a plus&lt;br&gt;
GIS Specialists possess the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:&lt;br&gt;
• Earth Science: A basic understanding of physical geography and/or geology.&lt;br&gt;

GIS Specialists perform the following tasks:&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
• Create maps and graphs, using GIS software and related equipment.&lt;br&gt;
• Work with LCI geologists or clients to define data needs, project requirements, required outputs, or to develop applications.&lt;br&gt;
• Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data and determine how best the information can be displayed using GIS.&lt;br&gt;
• Compile geographic data from a variety of sources.&lt;br&gt;
• Analyze spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports.&lt;br&gt;
• Design and update of spatial databases, applying additional knowledge of spatial feature representations.&lt;br&gt;
• Enter new map data by digitizing or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.&lt;br&gt;
• Analyze geographic relationships among varying types of data.&lt;br&gt;
• Prepare metadata and other documentation.&lt;br&gt;
• Operate and maintain GIS system hardware, software, plotter, digitizer, color printer, and video camera.&lt;br&gt;
• Present information to users and answer questions.&lt;br&gt;

      <title>Geospatial Web Application Developers (2)</title>
      <description>The Geospatial Innovation Facility (GIF – &lt;a href="http://gif.berkeley.edu" target="_blank"&gt;http://gif.berkeley.edu&lt;/a&gt;) in the College of Natural Resources, UC Berkeley, is seeking two talented full-time Web Application Developers (Applications Programmer 3, exempt), who have experience developing creative web-based visualization tools.&lt;br&gt;

The GIF supports research and outreach activities to users interested in spatial analysis and visualization utilizing GIS, GPS, remote sensing, and WebGIS. We promote geospatial solutions to the research community, both on and off campus.&lt;br&gt;

The Geospatial Web Application Developers will help build new tools and visualizations for several projects including mapping landcover change with USGS data, enabling species modeling and analysis in an online platform in partnership with the Berkeley Natural History Museums, and updating the Cal-Adapt (&lt;a href="http://cal-adapt.org" target="_blank"&gt;http://cal-adapt.org&lt;/a&gt;) web application.&lt;br&gt;

&lt;span class="PSLONGEDITBOX"&gt;Under the direction of the GIF Executive Director, the incumbents will be responsible for:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Designing, developing, modifying, debugging and evaluating complex web applications in an open source environment.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Analyzing existing applications and work to formulate logic for new systems, devising logic procedures, preparing flowcharting, performing coding, data analysis, and tests/debugs programs through the application of professional programming concepts.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Providing analysis for the design and use of complex relational databases.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Performing complex data modeling, performance and integration testing and building tools for a variety of internal and external constituents.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Required Qualifications&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Requires thorough knowledge of application programming, including proven experience designing and implementing creative User Experience / User Interface (UX/UI) for data and map based visualizations.&lt;/li&gt;

      <description>The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) and the California Wildlife Foundation invite applications for a temporary one-year position (time extension possible) as a Biogeographer/Conservation GIS Specialistto participate in California data development and analysis for a western-states Crucial Habitat Assessment Tool (CHAT) beginning April 16th, 2012 in Sacramento, California.&lt;br&gt;

This geospatial data development and analysis project is coordinated by the Western Governors Association to address regional crucial wildlife habitat and corridor planning (&lt;a href="http://www.westgov.org/initiatives/wildlife" target="_blank"&gt;www.westgov.org/initiatives/&lt;wbr&gt;wildlife&lt;/a&gt;) . This job focuses on data development, analysis and project coordination for a western-states conservation decision support system and environmental data portal. Project teams are made up of members from 17 western states. The position is housed with the Biogeographic Data Branch of the DFG (&lt;a href="http://www.dfg.ca.gov/biogeodata" target="_blank"&gt;www.dfg.ca.gov/biogeodata&lt;/a&gt;) and will collaborate internally with department scientists.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Required qualifications for the position include a degree in Geography or Environmental Sciences or Conservation GIS, with strong expertise in ecological data analysis, GIS and spatial modeling. An advanced degree is preferable. High proficiency with ESRI GIS software products is required. Previous experience participating in highly collaborative projects and excellent communications skills are also desired. Some travel required.&lt;br&gt;

Monthly Ranged Compensation is $5,000/month. A reduced time base can be considered. (This fixed compensation amount is available as salary only or salary &amp;amp; benefits). A 401(k) plan with company match after 500 hours of service.&lt;br&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;This position is a full-time position filled by Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission, located and working for the GIS Unit in the Biogeographic Data Branch of the California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) in downtown Sacramento, CA. The primary role of this position is to assist DFG staff in their development of tools and extensions for ESRI's ArcMap software (v10). This will include creating tools for special editing functions as well as special analysis functions, working with internal end users to clarify the functional needs and usability, and more.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Essential Functions:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;ul type="disc"&gt;
    &lt;li&gt;Create and manage ArcMap desktop tool extensions to replace existing AML tools. The tools will be created for an internal group of data development scientists who work with ArcMap daily. This will include requirements analysis, developing code, testing, debugging, documenting and the creation of an end-user manual.&lt;/li&gt;

    &lt;li&gt;Migrate the spatial data used by this group to a geodatabase structure. Research and recommend appropriate ESRI data format based on the existing needs and processes in place.&lt;/li&gt;

    &lt;li&gt;Further refine and analyze technical and functional process and best practices documents for this groups data development and applications. Assure they are consistent with current and planned infrastructure and data environments.&lt;/li&gt;
  &lt;/ul&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Minimum Qualification Requirements:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;Candidates must present one year of Specialized Experience** which demonstrates:&lt;/p&gt;

    &lt;li&gt;Knowledge of the customary approaches, techniques, and requirements appropriate to GIS analysis and mapping, as well as custom GIS desktop tool design and development;&lt;/li&gt;

    &lt;li&gt;Knowledge of planning sequences necessary to accomplish assignments where this entailes coordination with others outside the organizational unit; and&lt;/li&gt;

    &lt;li&gt;Adaptation of guidelines or precedents to the needs of the assignment.&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;The Specialized Experience must equip the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. At the lower end of the range, Data Management Specialists (Natural Sciences):&lt;br&gt;

*Compile project data into standardized electronic data formats. This includes accessing filed information and verifying its accuracy and completeness, performing data entry, electronic data transfer, editing, and error checking.&lt;br&gt;

*Document data handling and reporting to ensure consistency and validity of data between and within sites. Files may come from sources that use different computer hardware, software systems/protocols, and different communication packages.&lt;br&gt;

    • GIS-based scenario modeling tools such as CommunityVIZ, Index and/or PLACE3S.&lt;br&gt;
    • Urban design, including 3D modeling and visual simulations.&lt;br&gt;
    • Sustainability, including energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions.&lt;br&gt;
    • Environmental issues and constraints, such as hazardous materials and geological features.&lt;br&gt;

      <title>Entry Level- GIS/Database Analyst</title>
      <description>Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. (Geosyntec), an environmental engineering and consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Database and/or GIS Analyst in Oakland, California to support its Groundwater Remediation practice. The selected candidate will provide database management and/or geographic information systems (GIS) support for site investigation, groundwater remediation, surface water, and landfill projects. Job Responsibilities:&lt;br&gt;
The selected candidate will work in one or more of the following areas: development and management of environmental relational databases, development and maintenance of GIS projects, data processing, graphic design. However, it is expected that the candidate will take the initiative to develop tools and procedures to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and transferability of data-intensive work products. Requirements:&lt;br&gt;
The minimum qualifications for this position are a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, geography, computer science, or closely aligned discipline. The successful candidate must demonstrate the following applicable experience:&lt;br&gt;

i. Expertise in GIS software, including ArcGIS 9.3/10, ArcObjects/Python scripting, Model Builder, and extensions (e.g. Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, ArcScene, ArcGlobe, Arc Hydro, ArcPublisher); or&lt;br&gt;
ii. Experience with relational databases, including the use of (Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access); or&lt;br&gt;

      <description>URS Corporation's Oakland GIS Group is looking for a highly motivated and technically capable GIS professional to join our team. We support a variety of clients from the fields of natural resource management, engineering, emergency management planning, and permitting. &lt;br&gt;
- Create, edit, and maintain geospatial databases and metadata&lt;br&gt;
- Provide spatial analyses in support of clients and staff including engineers, biologists, archaeologists, hydrologists, and geologists&lt;br&gt;
- Provide detailed and concise cartographic output&lt;br&gt;
- Develop visualization and communication strategies for data and results presentation&lt;br&gt;
- Develop and implement server/web GIS and database applications&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Required qualifications:&lt;br&gt;
- BS/BA degree&lt;br&gt;
- Four years as a GIS professional&lt;br&gt;
- Strong skills using Esri ArcGIS for Desktop v.10 and extensions&lt;br&gt;
- Experience in building and using a GIS to solve problems and present results&lt;br&gt;
- Raster and vector data creation and editing&lt;br&gt;
- Georeferencing imagery and maps&lt;br&gt;
- Written and oral communication for all levels of technical understanding&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Preferred qualifications:&lt;br&gt;
- Experience using ArcGIS for Server, including ArcSDE&lt;br&gt;
- Relational database management (SQL Server or Oracle)&lt;br&gt;
- GIS web and mobile application development using commercial and open-source resources&lt;br&gt;
- GPS data collection and processing&lt;br&gt;
- CADD-GIS data conversion and integration&lt;br&gt;
- Business development and marketing&lt;br&gt;

      <title>Aerial Imagery Analyst</title>
      <description>Aerial Services is a small Bay Area company. We do aerial targeting using a combination of our own and off the shelf software&lt;br&gt;

We are seeking an aerial imagery analyst for a seasonal, project-to-project work schedule. Analysts examine aerial images and use our software to locate targets that fit the client’s criteria and create a target database. All work is done from home. Typical work sessions are 2-4 hours, and there may be several sessions per day during our busy season. Projects can span for several days. This job is perfect for someone who may be retired, a homemaker, or under-employed. Our existing analysts are scattered across the country, so location is flexible.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Required:&lt;br&gt;
Must have experience using Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop, and Google Earth, and have these installed on your system. Must have a reasonably good Microsoft XP or WIN7 computer with one or two good monitors, and a reasonably fast internet connection.&lt;br&gt;
